Greetings
from Toby's Foundation,
In
Memory of Toby: February 17, 2002 – November 19, 2009
It is with deep
sadness that I share with you that Toby died on November 19, 2009.
He succumbed to the disease and its complications after nearly a 7
year battle. He was brave and loved life until the end in spite of
this cruel disease. He inspired us always! He remained bright and
alert but it was his body that finally gave out. He died peacefully
surrounded by love and that is all we could ask. He is free now! He
never complained and was so happy for the littlest thing you did for
him. If only I could be more like him! He was the sweetest, smartest
and most loving dog we have ever had the privilege of knowing and
sharing our lives with. For my husband and me he was more than just
our dog…he was our boy! We will miss him every day for the rest of
our lives.
In what would be Toby’s last ad for us before
becoming an “Epi Angel” he reminds us that we are all “Connected”
not only by the bonds we form with our furry friends but also by the
love we share for this amazing breed! Please see the Australian
Shepherd Journal and Aussie Times, November - December 2009 issue.
This ad may also be viewed on our website.
We want to assure
you that Toby’s Foundation will continue to pursue a screening test
for canine epilepsy by supporting the research to find the genes
responsible for this disease. Please continue to stand with us in
the fight against canine epilepsy. With your help we will stop this
disease!
As always we must ask for your continued help in
submitting blood samples from your dogs for Dr. Ned Patterson’s
Aussie Epilepsy research at the University of Minnesota and if you
are in Europe please send blood samples to Dr. Hannes Lohi in
Helsinki , Finland . Links to both with instructions and forms are
available on our website. Samples from affected dogs are
particularly needed!
During this holiday season please help
us with a donation if you can to support canine epilepsy research so
together we can stop this terrible disease that is a major canine
health problem. Whatever amount you can give, it is needed and
deeply appreciated. Your gift is tax deductible to the fullest
extent of the law. We ask you to please give in Memory of Toby and
all the dogs that have been and will still be affected by this
disease until we have a screening test available. In the meantime,
please remember how very important it is to stand against this
disease by sharing information about it!
Toby was always so
happy and we know grateful for all his family, friends and
supporters. We thank you on his behalf and now in Honor of and in
Memory of him and so many others.
Thank you! We wish you all
a joyous and peaceful holiday
season!
